Romney’s Geography Problem

There were many memorable moments from Monday’s presidential debates. President Obama’s comment about ‘horses and bayonets’ was our personal favorite. But another comment by GOP candidate, Spiff Romney, showed that maybe he’s not ready to be commander-in-chief. He referred to Syria as being “Iran’s route to the sea”. In fact, Iran doesn’t share a border with Syria and has a large coastline bordering the Persian Gulf, the Straits of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, which leads to the Arabian Sea and in turn the Indian Ocean. This isn’t the first time he’s made the gaffe either.  Not knowing geography is okay if you’re a college student. But if you’re the leader the largest country in the free world, you need to know the geography of countries and regions, especially those which have a history of being problematic. We here at the Bucket think we know who briefed Romney on world geography.

Massachusetts and Salt Lake City Love…Obama?

One thing that is really interesting to us here at the Bucket is that no one is mentioning that Spiff Romney is trailing President Obama in polls by 15 points in his home state of Massachusetts. 15 POINTS!!! Remember in 2000 when media observers made such a big deal about Al Gore not being able to carry his home state of Tennessee. Well no one in the so called ‘liberal’ media is mentioning this juicy tidbit. No one is mentioning his low 40% approval rating when he left the governorship after one term either.

Another thing we noticed today is that the Salt Lake City Tribune endorsed Barack Obama for President yesterday. We find this rather astonishing since Salt Lake City is the mecca of Mormonism, which is Romney’s religion, and dealt considerably with Romney in the 2002 Winter Olympic games. Though Romney will no doubt carry Utah, it’s shocking that the largest daily newspaper would NOT lend it’s support to one of the most high profile Mormon politicians in the country. Things that make you go hmmmmm!

Romney Creates Jobs…IN CHINA!

We came across an interesting article while surfing the ‘interwebs’. It appears, GOP candidate, Spiff Romney, who has been spouting off on how we should stop shipping jobs to China, is…drum role please…shipping jobs to China! Yes, it appears that one of the companies Bain capital harvested, Sensata, which makes sensors for automobiles, announced it is closing a factory in Freeport, Ill., and sending the manufacturing jobs to China. The full story can be read at this LINK. Yes, Romney continues to show us why he belongs in a used car lot and not the White House.

Why Indeed

We usually don’t put graphics from other sites up here, but this one was pretty good. It addresses the whiny, sucky, cry-baby obstructionism of the Republican party these past four years nicely. This graphic is from The Reprimand Project.

It’s All Those Mooching Grannies Fault

Spiff Romney sure stepped into it when video of him surfaced of him at a fundraiser where he called 47% of Americans moochers “who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.” This from a man who doesn’t pay ordinary income tax on his annual income, paying instead federal capital gains taxes, which are taxes paid on investment income at a greatly reduced rate than those paid on salaries and wages. He also refuses to release his tax returns and openly supports corporations who get away with paying no taxes and pride themselves on how they patriotically hide their money in off shore accounts instead of using that money to … we don’t know… help American infrastructure. To view the full video at Mother Jones, click here. Make no mistake…this IS what Romney, the slimy, deceptive, hypocritical, used car salesman,  thinks of most people in this country.

Channeling Bad Presidents

We’re baaaack! We’ve been away for awhile. What did we miss?

Oh yeah. A hidden video which presents the true side of Spiff Romney (more on that in upcoming posts) and a lackluster debate featuring a lying used car salesman(Romney), who was channeling deceptive, former actor/president St. Ronald Reagan, and President Obama, who by using that tried and untrue Democratic strategy of taking the high road, ended up having that deer-in-the-headlight look that Dubya sported throughout the 2004 debates with John Kerry. But what was worse was watching the media cream their shorts about how great Romney’s style was (liberal media? we think not), even though he lied his ass off again. We’re hoping President Obama is just using a rope-a-dope strategy to lure Romney into a false sense of security. In the coming month, he needs to slam Romney on his dubious record with Bain, his refusal to release his tax returns and his ‘47%’ video EVERY chance he gets. If there is one thing we’ve learned in the past fifty years, you can’t trust the Republicans to play fairly at anything.

Here’s a photo-toon from our October 10, 2004 issue which depicts ol’ Dubya in all his presidential debate glory.

In the recent debate with John Kerry, George W. Bush shows his presidential side by smirking and performing that patented Bush maneuver, the sticking out of the tongue.

Rewind: Screwing The Pooch

There’s less than two months left before the election and in the race for the Presidency, President Obama leads in polls over the GOP challenger, Spiff Romney. A couple of days ago, Romney made a huge gaffe as he criticized the Obama administration about sympathizing with the armed militants who stormed the U.S. consulate in Libya in protest over an anti-Islam film and killed ambassador Christopher Stevens. Turns out Romney “shot first and aimed later”, as he was completely clueless about the timeline of the events. It turns out both Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama harshly criticized the attacks and Romney looks like a complete doofus. Which reminds us of another doofus, who ran the show from 2001 to 2009.

President Bush puts in a phone call to his father, former President George H.W. Bush, for a little advice on 'presidentin'.

Gran Finale

The Republicans saved the biggest surprise for the last night and they did not disappoint. Legendary Oscar winning actor, Clint Eastwood, took center stage and gave an empty chair the thrashing of a life time. Actually, in true theatrical fashion, the empty chair was supposed to represent President Barack Obama and Mr. Eastwood, at least in his mind, represented all his rugged heroes he played in his westerns and police dramas rolled into one. Mr. Eastwood then went on to ramble incessantly for twelve excruciating minutes  In the end, Mr. Eastwood proved to be more the angry old man from Gran Torino than Dirty Harry. Here’s one of his more memorable moments.

Actor Clint Eastwood had some memorable senior moments while giving his speech at the Republican National Convention.

Somethin’s Burnin’

A highlight of the Republican National Convention was Vice Presidential candidate, Paul ‘Randyboy’ Ryan’s acceptance speech. What was exceptional about it was how outright dishonest it was. Check out the links here, here, here and here. Wow! Talk about shoveling it!

Here’s an action shot of Randyan lying his ass off.

GOP Vice Presidential candidate, Paul Ryan's acceptance speech set off the fire alarms at the Tampa convention center.

Republicans Make Their Own Facts

One complaint expressed by many during the RNC was that Spiff Romney and Paul Randyan filled their speeches with lies and deceptions. Of course, the poor, persecuted, beleaguered conservative media refuted claims immediately with the statement “We’re not going [to] let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers.”

Yes, facts have been nothing but a bother for conservative Republicans in the joke that is Con-a-thon 2012 and finally Spiff Romney vented his frustration at the convention.
