{"id":6224,"date":"2018-09-15T13:44:46","date_gmt":"2018-09-15T20:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bilgebucket.com\/?p=6224"},"modified":"2018-09-15T14:31:25","modified_gmt":"2018-09-15T21:31:25","slug":"the-perfect-visual-metaphor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bilgebucket.com\/?p=6224","title":{"rendered":"The Perfect Visual Metaphor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a nerve-wracking several days for the inhabitants of North Carolina and South Carolina as they have dealt with the preparation for and are still enduring the effects of Hurricane Florence, which is now slowly spinning over South Carolina, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/live-news\/tropical-storm-florence-path-power-outage-flooding-latest-weather-hurricane-rain-2018-09-15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">still packing tropical storm force winds and drenching the region with record rainfall and flooding reminiscent of last year&#8217;s Hurricane Harvey in Houston<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While watching the coverage of the storm online, we noticed a web cam set up on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Frying_Pan_Shoals_Light\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frying Pan Tower<\/a> off the coast of Cape Fear in North Carolina. The cam was set up focusing mainly on the American flag fluttering in the wind with the stormy seas rolling behind it. As time went on, the violent winds of Hurricane Florence battered and eventually ripped the flag to shreds.
