Shirley Ray Bodine's Book Club

Shirley Ray Bodine

In 2005, Shirley Ray Bodine returned from helping her relatives in the Gulf states who were affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She was profoundly moved by the generosity from people all over the world like: the rescuers from Canada, who beat FEMA to the scene; the passionate work of Harry Connick, Jr. aiding his hometown; and above all, the help of Oprah Winfrey. The BilgeBucket makes a lot of jokes at Oprah’s expense, but she is one hell of a humanitarian. Shirley Ray was inspired so much that she wants to do more than just write an advice column. This year, she started a Book Club, just like Oprah. And unlike Oprah, Shirley Ray welcomes true stories that are fiction. Honestly, some people are so picky! So without further adieu, here’s Shirley Ray Bodine’s latest selection for the Book Club. If Amazon doesn’t have the book, be sure and place a special order for it.
